Old Southern cookie recipe that is a 'Must-Try' ! Ingredients:
1/4 cup (real) unsalted butter, softened |
1/3 cup white sugar |
2 egg whites |
1 tsp vanilla |
in addition you could use 1 tsp of coconut or almond flavoring |
1/3 cup all-purpose flour |
pinch of salt |
Directions:
1. BEAT BUTTER at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy 2. GRADUALLY, add SUGAR, beating well. 3. ADD, EGG WHITES and VANILLA, beating just until blended 4. COMBINE, FLOUR and SALT 5. GRADUALLY add to BUTTER mixture, beating just until blended after each addition 6. DROP batter by Level teaspoonfuls onto a lightly greased or PAM-sprayed cooking sheet; PULL a Knife through Batter until Each Cookie is about 5 inches long 7. (one end will be wider) A Cat's Tongue !! 8. BAKE at 425 degrees for only 4 to 5 minutes (or) until edges are Lightly Browned 9. IMMEDIATELY Remove from cookie sheets 10. TRANSFER to wire racks to cool - COOL completely before serving 11. ************************************************************************************* 12. If cookies harden on cookie sheets, return to oven briefly to soften 13. Yield: 2 and 1/2 dozen |
