This recipe is over 50 years-old. Keep that in mind when you count your tomatoes (I use 20 large instead of the 36 specified)
Ingredients:
36 tomatoes, peeled, chopped
8 green peppers or 8 red peppers, chopped
10 onions, chopped
2 cups cider vinegar
5 tablespoons salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon allspice
1 -2 teaspoon clove
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 1/4 cups sugar
Directions:
1. Cook all ingredients, except sugar, over low heat, stirring often, until nearly thick enough, about 3 - 5 hours. Then add sugar. Stir regularly until thickened.
