I drink this often to overcome fatigue and injuries from martial arts class. My TCM physician advised simmering ginseng and drinking the water but I devised this as a palatable way to get my 'tonic'. I was cautioned ginseng is a powerful aphrodisiac and should be taken in moderation but hubby isn't complaining *wink*
Ingredients:
1 cup peeled and finely cut carrot
1 cup rinsed soya beans
2 dried small whole ginseng roots - rinsed
8 cups water
1 tsp salt (optional)
1/2 a tsp sugar (optional)
Directions:
1. Put everything except salt and sugar into a pot and bring to the boil.
2. Lower heat immediately to minimum, put lid on and simmer very very gently for 3 hrs.
3. Add salt and sugar if desired, though the soup is quite tasty as it is. Stir then turn off heat.
4. Drink one rice bowl full of the liquid before bed, for 5 consecutive nights to overcome severe fatigue and hasten healing from injuries.
5. Drink 3 times a week, preferably at night, for other purposes *ahem*
