A nice change of pace, something a little difference. Really, what vegetable doesn't love a cheese sauce? Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter |
1 small onion, chopped |
1/4 cup flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard |
1/4 teaspoon celery salt |
2 cups milk |
1/2 lb cheese, sliced |
12 large carrots, thinly sliced, cooked till tender |
buttered bread crumb |
Directions:
1. Melt butter. 2. Add onion, flour and seasonings and stir until smooth. Gradually add milk. Stir over medium heat until thickened. 3. Arrange half of carrots in bottom of 2-1/2 qt casserole. Add cheese slices. 4. Top with remaining carrots. 5. Pour sauce over all. 6. Top with buttered. 7. bread crumbs. 8. Bake at 375 for 30 minute. |
