This is a traditional English dish my wife introduced me to that is fast, easy, and delicious. My first impression was…. unimpressed. 1 pound carrots, pealed and cut into approximately 1/2 inch long pieces. |
1 pound turnips pealed and cut into approximately 1/2 inch cubes. |
1/2 stick butter |
salt |
pepper |
Directions:
1. Place carrots and turnips in a pot and cover with water. 2. Cover and bring to a boil, cook until soft, about 30 minutes. 3. Remove from heat and drain. 4. Add butter and mash with a potato masher until the consistency of lumpy mashed potatoes. 5. Season to taste with salt and pepper. 6. Serve hot. |
