Cardamom add a delicious twist to this traditional fall fruit dessert. You will certainly enjoy this special Crisp. Ingredients:
2 apples, peeled and sliced |
2 firm ripe pears, peeled and sliced |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
1 teaspoon cardamom, ground |
1/2 cup flour |
1/2 cup quick-cooking oats |
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed |
6 tablespoons cold butter, cut into pieces |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. Toss apples and pear slices with lemon juice and vanilla in large bowl. Mix cornstarch and cardamom. Sprinkle over fruit; toss to coat well. Spoon into lightly greased 8 or 9-inch square baking dish. 3. FOR THE STREUSEL TOPPING: Mix flour, oats and sugar in medium bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle evenly over fruit. 4. Bake 40-45 minutes or until fruit is tender and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired. |
