These are a real treat. Recipe from Company's Coming cookbook. Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups flour |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, plus |
2 teaspoons butter or 2 teaspoons margarine |
1/2 cup butter |
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed |
2 tablespoons corn syrup |
1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk |
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Bottom Layer: Crumble flour, sugar and 1/2 cup plus 2 teaspoons butter together. 2. Pack into ungreased 9x9-inch pan. 3. Bake in 350°F oven for 20 minutes. 4. Second Layer: Combine butter, brown sugar, corn syrup and condensed milk in heavy pot. 5. Bring to boil over medium heat. 6. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly as it burns easily. 7. Remove from heat. 8. Beat with spoon slowly until it shows signs of thickening. 9. Pour over bottom layer. 10. Third Layer: Melt chocolate over hot water. 11. Pour over second layer. 12. Chill. 13. Cut into squares. |
