This is from a Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese cookbook.. You can substitute cashews, chopped walnuts or peanuts for pecan halves. Ingredients:
pastry for 1 crust 9-inch pie |
36 kraft caramels |
1/4 cup margarine |
1/4 cup water |
3/4 cup sugar |
3 eggs, beaten |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 cup pecan halves |
Directions:
1. On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry to 12-inch circle 2. Place in a 9-inch pie plate 3. Turn under edge, flute. 4. Unwrap caramels and melt with margarine & water in heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until smooth. 5. Gradually add to combined sugar, eggs, vanilla and salt; mix well 6. Stir in pecans; pour into pastry shell 7. Bake at 350 degrees, 45 to 50 minutes or until pastry is golden brown. 8. Cool - Filling appears soft, but will firm as it cools 9.
