With this dish, a little goes a long way. It truly is quite rich with its gooey, yummy sauce and light dumplings. Ingredients:

2 tbs. butter (no subs, please) |
2 cups brown sugar |
2 cups boiling water |
!/8 tsp. salt |
dumplings |
1 1/4 cups sifted flour |
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder |
1/8 tsp. salt |
2 tbs. melted butter |
1/3 cup milk |
1 tsp. vanilla |
Directions:
1. Sauce: Mix all ingredients together and boil gently for 5 minutes. 2. Dumplings: Sift dry ingredients together. Add butter, milk and vanilla. Drop by teaspoons into boiling sauce. Cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes. Remove from heat and cover with a kitchen towel. This dish may be served either warm or chilled. Spoon some dumplings into serving dish and ladle caramel sauce over. Top with whipped cream. |
