Made with real cream, sugar, applie pie filling, nuts and caramel. A great treat and wonderful way to ring in the fall weather. I put this together because I was trying to make pumpkin ice cream but every store around was out of canned pumpkin! Carmel Apples seemed like the next best thing! Ingredients:
1 cup whipping cream |
2/3 cup half-and-half |
2/3 cup sugar |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
3 tablespoons caramel sundae syrup (i use smuckers because it is thin) |
10 ounces apple pie filling (diced smaller than a chocolate chip) |
1/2 cup roasted peanuts (chopped) |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Combine cream, half/half, sugar, vanilla and lemon juice in a bowl and whisk. Add caramel sauce to mixture and mix well. 2. In a separate bowl, combine chopped apples, peanuts and salt and mix well. 3. Place cream mixture in electric ice cream machine and turn on for 25 mintues. 4. Gradually add apple/nut mixture at the end of freezing for an additional 10 minutes. 5. Transfer to airtight container and freeze for 2 hours before serving. |
