Very old recipe of mine. More cake like and great with a scoop of ice cream. Very easy to prepare for a thrifty dessert !
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
dash nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups fresh peeld diced apples
Directions:
1. Combine all except apples ,nuts and vanilla and stir well .
2. Batter will be stiff.
3. Add nuts and vanilla and carefully fold in apples.
4. Pour batter into a heavily buttered 9 inch pie pan.
5. Spread out evenly.
6. Bake 375 F 45 minutes or tested done.
7. This keeps well and great with ice cream
8. Note: if you don't like nuts just substitute with raisins or dried cranberries or cherries.
