This is a recipe I got from my sister. It is a great way to use apples during harvest time. This is great for pies, crisps, cobblers, or on it's own. Ingredients:
41/2 c sugar |
1 c clear gel |
3 tsp cinnamon |
10 c cold water |
1 tsp salt |
3 t lemon juice |
enough peeled, cored, and sliced apples to fill seven quarts |
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, clear gel, cinnamon, and water in a large pot on stove top. 2. Cook on med. heat stirring constantly until thickened. 3. Remove from heat and add salt and lemon juice. 4. Fill bottles with apples. ( Wide mouth jars work best) 5. Ladel sauce into jars until fill to 1 inch from top. 6. You can use a butter knife slid down the side between jar and apples to help fill if needed. 7. Put seals and rings on bottles (made sure rim is clean) 8. Put in hot water bath and boil gently for 20 minutes. 9. Remove from water to towel or cooling rack to let cool and seal. |
