Ingredients:
1/2 cup(s) butter - softened |
1/2 cup(s) shortening |
1 cup(s) confectioners sugar |
1 egg |
1/2 teaspoon(s) peppermint or almond extract |
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla |
2 1/2 cup(s) flour |
1 teaspoon(s) salt |
1 teaspoon(s) red food coloring |
1/2 cup(s) crushed peppermint - crush in food processor |
1/2 cup(s) sugar |
Directions:
1. Bake at 375 degrees 9 minutes 2. Mix butter, shortening, xxx sugar, egg, vanilla and peppermint extract 3. Blend in flour and salt 4. Split dough in two parts. Add red food coloring to half 5. Roll dough into 4 inch strips 6. Twist rolls into candy cane shape on lightly floured board 7. Sprinkle with peppermint and sugar mixture 8. Place on ungreased cookie sheet 9. Bake at 375 for 9 minutes 10. Carefully remove to cooling rack while still warm |
