KFC had Candy Apple Wings a few years ago and I was addicted to them. Of course they discontinued them and I had to come up with a recipe to feed my addiction. They are messy, but so worth it. Ingredients:
oil for frying |
24 chicken wings, tips removed and cut at joints |
1 1/2 cups apple jelly |
1 cup cinnamon candies (red hots) |
3 tablespoons butter |
3 tablespoons hot sauce (more or less to taste) |
Directions:
1. Fry chicken wings in 375 degree oil 8-10 minutes or until done. 2. Drain wings on paper towels or wire rack. 3. In a saucepan, melt apple jelly, cinnamon candies, and butter until jelly is melted and candies are dissolved. 4. Remove from heat and stir in hot sauce. 5. Transfer wings to a large bowl and pour the sauce over them. 6. Toss or shake to coat. |
