My mom's recipe; we use these for everything-salad garnish, baking, the Waldorf, a tasty snack, parfait topping, chocolate-dipped goodness... what can I say? We love nuts! Ingredients:
6 cups pecans |
1 egg white |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. Whip the egg white, the sugar, and the vanilla in a large bowl. Add the pecans in the bowl and lightly toss. You want it to look as though there might not be enough mixture to coat the nuts; as little liquid as possible. 3. Spread nuts into a single layer on a cookie sheet. Toast for ten to fifteen minutes, checking often so the nuts don't burn. Let cool; store in a zip-lock bag. |
