When we go camping this is one of the ways I fix apples for the gang. Ingredients:
12 (or more) apples, sliced |
1/4 cup butter |
1 cup raisins |
1/4 cup packed brown sugar |
1 tbsp. cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Combine apples, butter, raisins, brown sugar and cinnamon in large heavy skillet; mix well. 2. Cook over hot coals for 15 minutes or until apples are tender, stirring occasionally. 3. May divide ingredients into portions, seal in individual foil packets and bake in hot coals. 4. NOTE: Another way I fix apples is take the core out of the apples, leaving 1/2-in. pulp in bottom and fill it with butter, sugar, cinnamon and red-hot cinnamon candies. Can also use nuts and coconut. 5. Wrap in double thickness foil and put in coals for 10 minutes to bake while grilling steaks |
