I started with a basic recipe and have improved it over the last few years. My family loves it and it is my most requested dish at potlucks. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 lb bacon, chopped |
3 (15 ounce) cans pork and beans (undrained) |
1 (15 ounce) can white beans, drained and rinsed |
1 (15 1/4 ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed |
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1/3 cup brown sugar |
1/4 cup ketchup |
1/4 cup barbecue sauce |
2 tablespoons molasses |
2 tablespoons yellow mustard |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon chili powder |
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/2 teaspoon season salt |
Directions:
1. Brown meat and onions, drain. Mix in all other ingredients and simmer for 1 hr on medium low, stirring occationally. You can add up to a cup of water if you like this dish thinner. |
