1 tablespoon(s) vanilla |
4 eggs |
1 1/2 cup(s) flour |
1 cup(s) cocoa |
1 teaspoon(s) cayenne |
1 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon |
1 cup(s) dried sweet cherries |
1 cup(s) semisweet chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Recipe makes 16 squares 2. Oven at 350 3. Spray or oil 13x9 pan (light metal, not dark) and hold aside 4. Sift together and hold aside: 5. 1/2 cups flour 6. cup cocoa powder 7. tsp salt 8. tsp cayenne 9. 1/2 tsp cinnamon 10. Rough chop (or leave whole, if you prefer): 11. cup dried sweet cherries 12. Add to cherries and hold aside: 13. cup semisweet chocolate chips 14. On low setting, melt and then place in mixing bowl: 15. cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter 16. To the melted butter, using electric mixer, thoroughly beat in: 17. cups white sugar 18. tbs vanilla 19. To the butter/sugar, thoroughly beat in, one at a time 20. large eggs 21. Slowly add the reserved sifted ingredients to the wet, slowly mixing just 'til evenly combined to form smooth batter 22. Fold in the reserved cherries/chips 23. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish 24. Bake at 350 until a toothpick comes out clean, 35-40 minutes 25. Place the pan on a rack and cool completely 26. Use serrated knife to cut into 16 squares (I cut into more pieces than this & mine were a bit messy) 27. Arrange the nice-looking pieces on serving dish (keep the ugly ones for the cook!) 28. Before serving, lightly dust with confectioner's sugar |
