Recipe makes 54 cookies. I used mini fruit slices instead of orange slice pieces for a very pretty, colorful look! I first made this recipe for my niece's wedding shower. It really looked beautiful on the cookie platters. Read more . Prep. time includes chilling time. Cook time is approx. total time. Drizzle cooled cookies with melted white chocolate for a dressy touch. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1 cup white baking chips; melted & cooled |
3/4 cup butter or margarine; softened |
1/4 cup orange juice |
1 tsp. vanilla |
1 egg |
3 1/2 cups gold medal all-purpose flour |
1 tsp. baking powder |
1 tsp. grated orange peel |
1/4 tsp. salt |
about 18 candy orange slices; cut into thirds |
Directions:
1. Beat sugar, melted baking chips & butter in lrg. bowl with electric 2. mixer on med. speed until creamy, or mix with spoon. Beat in orange 3. juice, vanilla & egg (mixture may appear curdled). Stir in flour, 4. baking powder, orange peel & salt. Cover & refrigerate about 1 hr. or 5. until easy to handle. 6. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Shape dough into 1 balls. Place about 7. 2 apart on UNGREASED cookie sheet. 8. Bake 9-12 mins. or until set (cookies will not brown). Immediately 9. press orange slice piece into center of each cookie.
