CAKE FIT FOR A QUEEN This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Almond Estate in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1992. Ingredients:
3 cups flour |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
1 cup butter |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup molasses |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon allspice |
1 teaspoon mace |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 teaspoon cloves |
1 cup fresh milk |
frosting |
2-1/2 cups icing sugar |
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring |
2 teaspoons butter |
1/2 cup fresh milk |
Directions:
1. Mix all cake ingredients together then spoon into large covered baking dish. 2. Bake at 300 for 3 hours then after 2-1/2 hours take cover off. 3. Allow to cool overnight night then frost and serve. 4. To make frosting combine icing sugar, almond flavoring, butter and milk then mix well. |
