A little spin on cabbage. Its a spicy cheese topped dish. I get rave reviews from my family and friends every time I make it. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 medium green pepper, chopped |
1 medium onion, chopped |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chilies |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon dried basil |
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano |
1/2 teaspoon white pepper |
1/2 teaspoon black pepper |
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper |
4 -6 drops hot pepper sauce |
1 small head of cabbage, chopped |
1 cup shredded colby cheese |
Directions:
1. In a skillet, cook the beef, green pepper, onion and garlic until meat is no longer pink; drain. 2. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, rice and seasonings. 3. Spread into an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking dish. 4. Top with the cabbage and cheese. 5. Cover and bake at 350 degree for 65-75 minutes or until the rice is tender. |
