When speaking with an older lady at my work I told her how I love cabbage rolls but hate the preparation. She came in the next day with this recipe, and we love it! Thanks Joyce. Ingredients:
1 lb ground chuck |
1/3 lb bulk sausage |
2 tablespoons parsley flakes |
salt and pepper |
1 cup minute rice |
1 medium onion (finely chopped) |
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1/4 cup ketchup |
1 (11 ounce) can sauerkraut |
3 tablespoons brown sugar |
1 head cabbage |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Mix first 6 ingredients together. 3. Coarsely chop cabbage. 4. Arrange meat mixture & cabbage in layers in a greased 2-21/2 quart casserole dish. 5. Pour tomato sauce over all and top with saurkraut. 6. Drizzle with ketchup and brown sugar. 7. Bake for 1 1/2 hours or until cabbage is tender and meat and rice are cooked. 8. Serve with mashed potatoes. |
