My family loves this dish. I like to serve it with kielbasa. Leftovers are delicious as well. Ingredients:
1 lb egg noodles, cooked and drained (or you could use ziti pasta) |
1 large head green cabbage, coarsely chopped |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
1/4 cup olive oil |
1 garlic clove, minced |
5 basil leaves, finely chopped (or 1 t dried basil) |
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 t dried) |
1 small sweet onion, chopped |
1 tablespoon lemon zest |
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes |
salt, to taste |
fresh ground black pepper, to taste |
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated |
Directions:
1. Boil cabbage until soft; drain. 2. In large nonstick skillet, melt the butter with the olive oil. 3. Add garlic, basil, parsley, onion, lemon zest, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper. 4. Saute until the cabbage starts to brown. 5. You can put a lid on it and keep stirring every few minutes. 6. When the cabbage is nicely browned, add cooked noodles and mix. 7. Add the parmesan cheese and mix. |
