These little snacks are addictive! They're easy and cheesy, lightly crisp, and the recipe doubles very nicely. I like to vary them a little by adding different dried herbs to the basic mixture; thyme seems to be the universal favorite. Prep time includes chilling time. Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter, softened |
1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese |
1/2 cup flour |
1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce |
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon dried herbs, of choice (optional) |
Directions:
1. Combine the butter and cheese; mix in the Worcestershire sauce, flour, garlic powder, salt and dried herbs (if using). 2. Roll mixture into a cylinder about 7 inches long and wrap up in waxed paper. 3. Refrigerate until firm. 4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. 5. Slice the chilled mixture into 1/4 inch thick slices and place on a greased baking sheet. 6. Bake at 375 degrees F for about 12 minutes, or until lightly golden with lightly browned cheese bits. |
