Dense/chewy 'no chocolate' brownies. This recipe comes from the cookbook 'Cooking in the New South' by Anne Byrn. Ingredients:
1 cup butter |
1 lb light brown sugar |
2 eggs |
2 cups sifted flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
2 cups pecans, coarsely chopped |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375F. 2. Melt butter in 13-by-9-inch pan. 3. Put sugar in large mixing bowl. 4. Pour melted butter over sugar. 5. Cream butter and sugar. 6. Beat in eggs. 7. Mix in remaining ingredients. 8. Pour back into already buttered pan. 9. Bake 25-30 minutes, or until brownies begin to pull away from the sides of pan. 10. When cool, cut into squares. |
