Buttermilk Pound Cake

Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened
3 cups white sugar
6 eggs
1 teaspoon lemon extract
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees
2. Grease one 10 inch tube pan
3. Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt
4. Set aside.
5. In a large bowl, beat butter with sugar until light and fluffy
6. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition
7. Stir in the lemon and vanilla extracts
8. Gently add flour mixture alternately with the buttermilk.
9. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
10. Bake in preheated oven for 90 minutes
11. Do not open oven door until after one hour
12. When cake begins to pull away from the side of the pan, it is done. Let cook in pan for 10 minutes
13. Turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
14. *** You may use self rising flour but you MUST eliminate the baking soda and reduce salt to 1/4 teaspoons.
