This is a delicious poundcake to serve family and friends... always good with coffee and fresh fruit... or just top it off with some fresh cream..
Ingredients:
1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon orange flavoring
3 cups sifted flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup buttermilk
Directions:
1. Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add eggs and beat well.
3. Add vanilla and orange flavorings.
4. Sift dry ingredients together 3 times.
5. Add dry ingredients to cream mixture alternately with buttermilk.
6. Spoon into greased loaf pan and bake 300 degrees for about 60 minutes.
