I got his recipe from Better Homes and Garden - it is very yummy! I cut them when they were still warm - so they didn't cut clean - but they still were loved and devoured! Ingredients:
1 cup butter |
3/4 cup sugar |
3/4 cup packed brown sugar |
3 eggs |
1/4 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 1/3 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 cup finely chopped toasted pecans |
5 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
chocolate curls (optional) |
1/3 cup sour cream |
1/4 cup butter, softened |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
3 cups sifted powdered sugar |
Directions:
1. Grease 13x9x2 inch baking pan; set aside. 2. In medium saucepan melt 1 cup butter over low heat. Cool slightly. 3. Stir sugar and brown sugar into melted butter. 4. Add eggs, one at a time, beat by hand until just combined. 5. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. 6. Stir together flour and baking soda. 7. Add flour mixture to to egg mixture and stir until just combined. 8. Divide batter into two equal portions. 9. Stir pecans into one portion and spread this part of batter into prepared pan. 10. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. 11. Stir melted chocolate and cinnamon into remaining batter, blend well. 12. Spread chocolate batter over partially baked brownies. 13. Continue baking about 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 14. Cool completely. 15. Meanwhile, prepare frosting by beating sour cream, 1/4 cup butter, and vanilla in electric mixer on low speed until smooth. 16. Gradually add powdered sugar, beat on low speed until smooth and spreadable. 17. Frost cooled brownies and garnish with chocolate curls if prefer. |
