These look so cool and they are delicious! A little bit of work, but not too bad. We got these from a magazine several months back. Made them quite a few times since then! Ingredients:
10 tablespoons butter |
2 teaspoons active dry yeast |
1/4 cup warm water |
1 tablespoon sugar |
3 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
3/4 cup well-shaken buttermilk |
2 teaspoons vegetable oil |
Directions:
1. Stir together water, yeast, sugar. Let sit 5 minutes (until foamy). 2. Mix flour, salt, buttermilk, and 6 tsp melted butter into yeast mixture. 3. Knead until elastic and smooth (6 to 8 minutes). 4. Oil top and bottom of dough and place in a large bowl and cover with plastic wrap. 5. Let rise until doubled (1.5 to 2 hours). 6. Punch dough down and cut in half. 7. Roll out 1/2 of dough to make a 12x12 square. 8. Cut square into 6 equal strips. 9. Butter the strips, then stack them on top of each other. 10. Cut stack into 6 equal parts. 11. Butter muffin pan and place rolls into muffin pan. 12. Repeat steps 8 through 13 for other half of dough. 13. Fan out tops of rolls. 14. Cover with towel and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours. 15. Preheat oven to 375. 16. Back rolls until golden, 20 to 25 minutes. 17. Brush tops with melted butter before serving. |
