Wonderful, cheesy biscuits!! Perfect match with comfort food. The recipe could be cut in half quite successfully Ingredients:
2 cups flour (plus some for the table and shaping) |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 cup butter, cold & cubed |
1 cup old cheddar cheese, grated (75 grams) |
1 cup buttermilk |
1 large egg, beaten |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425. 2. Place the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt in a medium bowl and whisk thoroughly distributed. Mix in cheese. 3. Add buttermilk and gently mix until loose, and turn on to a floured surfance. (the dough will be sticky). 4. Lightly flour your hands and then gently knead and shape the dough into a ball. Flatten the ball into a 1 thick disc. 5. Cut the dough into rounds with a 2 cookie cutter and set them on a parchment paper lined baking sheed. 6. Brush the tops of the biscuits with beaten egg. Bake in the middle of the oven for 12 - 14 minutes, or until puffed and golden. |
