This recipe for buttermilk cake calls for orange extract but that can be replaced be any extract you might like. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 1/2 cups sugar |
1 cup shortening |
4 eggs |
1 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon orange extract |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. In a bowl sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside. 3. In a seperate bowl cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. When eggs are combined add buttermilk, vanilla and orange extract. 4. Slowly combine flour mixture and buttermilk mixture until combined. Pour into a bundt pan and bake for 60 minutes or until done all the way through. |
