Gooey brownies that are a hit every time I make them. It's a great use for buttermilk! Ingredients:
brownie batter |
1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine |
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa |
1 cup water |
2 cups sugar |
2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
2 eggs, beaten |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa |
1 lb powdered sugar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. In a saucepan, bring butter, cocoa and water to a boil. Cool. Meanwhile in a large mixing bowl combine the sugar, flour and salt. 2. Pour cocoa mixture over dry ingredients mix well. Combine buttermilk and baking soda. Add to cocoa mixture along with eggs and vanilla. 3. Mix until well combined. 4. Pour into greased and floured 15x10x1 baking pan (or 2 9x13 pans) Bake at 350 for 20 min (or 400 for 15 min) 5. For Frosting: Melt butter, cocoa and buttermilk. Stir in sugar, vanilla and salt. Spread over warm cake. |
