Of all the cookies I make at Christmas time this has always been one of the family favorites. My mother used to make them when I was a child and I have continued the tradition.
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup finely chopped walnuts
powdered sugar
bag of hersheys kisses
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. In a large bowl combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
3. Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add vanilla and nuts.
5. Mix with hands to form a smooth dough.
6. Wrap the dough around a Hershey kiss so you can't see the chocolate.
7. Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
8. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes.
9. Cool one minute and then remove from the cookie sheets.
10. Carefully roll in powdered sugar.
11. Store in tightly covered container or freeze.
12. Makes 5 dozen cookies.
