This is the best and easiest butter tart recipe that I have come across. I use the frozen tart shells, however, home made tart shells really make them nice. Ingredients:
14 large tart shells or 18 miniature tart shells |
1 egg |
1 cup light brown sugar |
3 tablespoons melted butter |
2 tablespoons lemon juice |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
raisins or walnut pieces |
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line up tart shells on a baking sheet and put 4 or 5 raisins in each shell. (You may want to use less if using the mini shells). If using walnut pieces, sprinkle a small amount in each shell. In a bowl, beat the egg and sugar together with a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted butter, lemon juice and nutmeg. Spoon into tart shells until about half full. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Allow to stand for a few minutes when done and then remove to a plate or rack to cool. Enjoy! |
