This was served at a marriage retreat my husband and I attended. It was so fantastic I begged the cook for the recipe. (I guessed on the servings!) Ingredients:
1 cup butter |
1 1/4 cups sugar |
2 eggs, beaten |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
2 cups flour |
1 -2 apple |
cinnamon-sugar mixture |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
3 tablespoons cold butter |
3 tablespoons chopped nuts |
1/4 cup flour |
vanilla, a few drops |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, sour cream and vanilla. Beat well. 2. Mix baking powder and soda. Gradually add this mixture. 3. Pour half of batter in a greased and floured pan. 4. Cover with a layer of apples. 5. Add half of strudel. 6. Add the rest of batter. 7. Top with remaining strudel. 8. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes. |
