Tasty brittle like candy with coconut. Ingredients:
3/4 cup sliced almonds |
3/4 cup shredded sweetened coconut |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
3 tablespoons water |
1 tablespoon light corn syrup |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Combine almonds and coconut. 2. Spread in a thin layer over bottom of a buttered 13 x 9-inch pan. 3. Melt butter or margine in a saucepan. 4. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. 5. Cook, without stirring until mixture comes to soft crack stage, 290 degrees F. 6. Remove from heat and pour in a thin stream evenly over almonds and coconut. 7. Cool. 8. Break into pieces. 9. Store in an air-tight container. |
