Burgundy Wine and Honey Sauce |

Serve this spiced wine and honey sauce over ham steaks or use it as a basting glaze for a whole ham. The recipe is from the R.S.V.P. section of a December 1985 Bon Appetit magazine. It was requested from The Old Apple Farm restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri. Ingredients:
1 cup dark corn syrup |
1/2 cup honey |
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel |
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon |
10 whole cloves |
3/4 cup burgundy wine or 3/4 cup dry red wine |
Directions:
1. Combine syrup and honey in medium saucepan and bring to boil. 2. Add peel, cinnamon and cloves and remove from heat. 3. Cover and cool completely; stir in wine. 4. Strain sauce and store in airtight container. |
