Family Recipe. Ingredients:
1 cup water |
2 tablespoons active dry yeast |
2 cups milk |
1/4 cup butter |
1 cup organic raw sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 egg |
1 egg yolk |
wheat flour |
Directions:
1. Warm milk, butter, sugar and salt in saucepan until it gets good and warm (do not boil). Add egg and extra yolk. 2. Put a little flour in before yeast, then add enough flour to achieve desired firmness (Beat a lot after each addition of flour; not as stiff as bread dough.). 3. Grease tops and let rise for 30 minutes. Bake in 350 degree oven. 4. HINT: Watch the rising of these rolls as they do rise rapidly. If they rise too much, they will turn out airy and dry. 5. Original Recipe: compressed yeast cakes (little sugar)(in lieu of dry yeast), 1 c sugar (in lieu of raw sugar), flour (in lieu of wheat flour). |
