I make these Croutons made with left over hamburger and hot dog buns! Delicious...easy and puts a great use to the always extra buns in the freezer! Go great on salads, soups and crushed over pasta dishes adding a little crunch! Ingredients:
6 hamburger or 6 hot dog buns |
1/2 cup butter |
1 tablespoon seasoning salt |
garlic powder |
Directions:
1. Cube buns into small pieces. I like to cut them somewhat frozen easier to cut and keep uniform in size. 2. I usually use about 5-6 buns per batch. If you use more than that increase butter and seasoning salt accordingly. 3. Melt 1 stick of butter and add about 1 tablespoon of house seasonings. I like to use Paula Deens. 4. In large bowl toss cubes with butter mixture. Spread out on a large baking sheet and bake at 300°F until brown and crisp. Remove from oven and sprinkle garlic powder on while still warm. 5. These are great warm or when I make them I usually make a huge batch and put the rest in fridge to munch on later. |
