Buddyscotch Chiffon Pie

Amazing pie that tastes good, like butterscotch chiffon should! Cook time does not include chill time.
Ingredients:
1 envelope plain gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
3 eggs, separated
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup scalded milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup sugar
1 baked 10 pie shell
whipped cream
Directions:
1. Soak gelatin in cold water 5 minutes.
2. Beat egg yolks.
3. Gradually beat in brown sugar, then beat in milk gradually.
4. add butter and salt and cook in double boiler, stirring until custard-like....about 10 minutes.
5. Stir in gelatin.
6. Cool, then add vanilla
7. Beat egg whites with sugar until stiff.
8. Fold into mixture.
9. Pour into pie shell.
10. Cool and top with whipped cream.
11. Serves 6-8
