This recipe is from Omaha Steaks Meat Cookbook by John Harrison. I get tired of steamed vegetables, so occasionally I make something a little different.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs brussels sprouts, trimmed and stem ends cut with an x
1/2 cup bacon, diced
1/3 cup monterey jack cheese, grated
1/3 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
1/2 cup fresh breadcrumb, can use dried bread crumbs
salt, to taste
pepper, freshly ground, to taste
Directions:
1. Place sprouts in a vegetable basket set over a saucepan of boiling water, cover tightly, and steam for 10 minutes, or until just tender.
2. Meanwhile, saute the bacon in a nonstick pan over medium heat for 5 minutes, until just crispy; drain the bacon on paper towels and set aside.
3. Place the sprouts in a baking dish, sprinkle with bacon, and cover with the grated cheese and bread crumbs.
4. Broil the sprouts for about 5 minutes, or until the topping is browned.
