Found this while looking for a banana dish to serve at a brunch bridal shower, (the bride loves bananas!). Thought I would share this one. The addition of orange zest and orange liquer sounds really good. Could also use cinnamon and/or nutmeg, very adaptable to your own tastes. Read more . I used 2 as the serving size, but, you would just bake one banana per person. Great for a brunch side dish, or with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Ingredients:
1 banana for each serving you need |
your choice of |
triple sec, orange curacao liquer, grand mariner, or other |
a few drops of creme de menthe (optional) |
orange zest |
your choice of spices to sprinkle over |
pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, ground cloves, cinnamon, etc. just enough for a light dusting. |
Directions:
1. Pierce bananas all over with fork 2. Drizzle with some type of liqueur 3. You can add a few drops of white Creme-De-Menthe over top if desired. 4. Sprinkle with grated orange peel and pumpkin pie spice (or spices such as nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon or whatever you like) just a light dusting. 5. Wrap individually in foil and place in a 350° oven for 20-30 minutes. This make a remarkable side dish. 6. When you remove from the oven, be careful when opening the foil as they are very hot. 7. Drizzle the juice over the top of the bananas just before serving. 8. If using for dessert, drizzle juice over ice cream. |
