BROWNIES WITH COLA This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Elmhurst Estate in Heath, Texas in 1981. Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 cups granulated sugar |
1 cup butter |
3 tablespoons cocoa |
1 cup cola |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
2 eggs beaten |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1-1/2 cup miniature marshmallows |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
frosting |
1 cup margarine |
3 tablespoon cocoa |
6 tablespoons cola |
16 ounces sifted powdered sugar |
1 cup chopped pecans |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
Directions:
1. Sift flour and sugar. 2. Heat butter, cocoa and cola to boiling then pour over sugar mixture. 3. Mix buttermilk, eggs, soda, marshmallows and vanilla then add to mixture and mix well. 4. Batter will be thin. 5. Pour into greased and floured rectangular baking pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. 6. To make frosting combine margarine, cocoa and cola then heat to boiling. 7. Pour over sugar. 8. Blend with mixer until smooth. 9. Add nuts and vanilla. 10. Pour over brownies while frosting is hot. |
