Brownies With Broiled Coconut Frosting |

These are the sweetest tasting brownies, with the most delightful frosting - just yummy!! Ingredients:
3/4 cup granulated sugar |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine, cut into pieces |
2 tablespoons water |
1 (8 ounce) box semisweet baking chocolate squares, broken into pieces |
2 large eggs |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 cups flaked coconut |
1 cup packed brown sugar |
1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, melted |
1/4 cup nestle carnation evaporated milk |
Directions:
1. FOR THE BROWNIES: Preheat oven to 350F,. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan. 2. Heat, stirring constantly, sugar, butter and water in a large, heavy-duty saucepan, just to boiling. Remove from heat. Add baking bars; stir until melted. stir in eggs one at a time. Add flour, vanilla extract, baking soda and salt; stir well. Spread into prepared pan. 3. Bake for 16-20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool in pan for 20 minutes. 4. FOR THE COCONUT FROSTING: Combine coconut, brown sugar, butter and evaporated milk in medium bowl. Spread over cooled brownies. Broil 4-inches from heat for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. |
