This sounds like an interesting chocolate pie, with grapenut cereal as a thickening ingredient. Ingredients:
1/2 cup grape-nuts cereal |
2/3 cup sugar |
1 cup light corn syrup |
3 tablespoons butter |
3 eggs |
1/2 cup chopped pecans |
1/2 cup warm water |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
4 ounces baker's german chocolate, broken |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell |
Directions:
1. Combine cereal and water; let stand until water is absorbed. 2. Heat sugar, salt and syrup to a boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve sugar; boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat. 3. Add chocolate and butter; stir until blended. Slowly pour over eggs, stirring constantly. 4. Add cereal mixture, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Pour into pie shell. 5. Bake at 375* for about 50 minutes, or until filling puffs and begins to crack around edges. 6. Cool. Serve with whipped cream. |
