Found recipe in the Prescott Journal. It is served over Whipped Cream Cake same as: /22857 . The notes in the paper said: Another old recipe from the files of May Welch 'Our Nana'. The Historical Society has a display of old school days and this is a tribute to all the one room school house teachers. My grandmother, May, taught at Diamond Bluff and Stirrat schools in the very early 1900's. Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar |
1 cup white sugar |
1/2 cup water |
2 teaspoons vinegar |
2 egg whites, beaten |
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Boil first for ingredients until a thread spins. 2. Add egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt. Stir until creamy and spread on cooled cake. |
