2/3 cup unbleached white flour |
2/3 cup dark brown sugar |
1/4 cup finely chopped pecans |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoon cardamom |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1 cup finely chopped dates |
2 egg whites, lightly beaten |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350° and lightly oil an 8 square baking pan. Set aside. 2. Combine all ingredients except eggs; stir well. 3. Add eggs and stir until dry ingredients are moistened. Spoon batter into prepared baking pan; bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Cool slightly before cutting. |
