Really good blondies. They are like brownies but instead of chocolate they are brown sugar flavored. I made these for my grandmother-in-law's party and EVERYONE loved them. She is usually not a fan of sweets and she had three! Dark brown sugar will give you an even better flavored blondie. I got this recipe from the magazine The Best Of Ingredients:
1/2 cup unsalted butter |
1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar |
1 large egg |
1 large egg yolk |
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
3/4 cup toasted pecans |
Directions:
1. Put the oven rack on middle and heat the oven to 350 F. 2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat add the butter and brown sugar, stirring frequently until the sugar has dissolved and stir for about 1 minute longer. 3. Set the pan aside to cool for about 10 minutes. 4. Butter an 8 inch square pan and line the pan bottom with parchment paper and then butter the parchment paper. 5. Stir the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla into the cooled sugar mixture. 6. Add the flour, salt, and nuts, stirring until blended. 7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake until the center springs back when touched and a toothpick comes out clean (from 25-35 minutes). |
