Smother mashed potatoes with this tempting brown gravy recipe. Use drippings from your holiday turkey or chicken stock as a substitute. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
3/4 cup degreased turkey drippings or low-salt chicken broth |
1/4 cup water |
1/4 cup dry red wine |
1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper |
1/8 teaspoon black pepper |
Directions:
1. Place flour in a small bowl. Gradually add the turkey drippings and water, stirring with a wire whisk until blended; set aside. Bring wine to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat; cook 2 minutes. Add flour mixture, and cook 2 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring constantly with a wire whisk. Remove from heat, and stir in peppers. |
