This is my recipe for brown beans. They go good with corn bread and fried potatoes. Ingredients:
1 half of a 2 lb bag pinto beans |
1 tablespoon canola oil |
1 tablespoon olive oil |
salt to taste |
water |
large kettle with lid |
Directions:
1. Wash and sort through beans. 2. Put in large kettle and add water to cover by 3 inches. 3. Bring to a boil. 4. Turn the heat down and put the lid on and simmer 4 or 5 hours. 5. Stir often. 6. When beans are tender add the canola oil,olive oil, salt to taste. 7. Simmer about 1/2 hour to let flavors blend. |
